Review Summary:

Doing DIY home projects in a dark room, a basement, or an attic is hazardous for many reasons. Power tools and low visibility don’t mix not only because of the possibility of injury but also because it becomes harder to produce quality work. So, instead of putting a strain on your eyes, and risking all kinds of injuries, get the BDCF20 LED Work Light and finish home projects safely.

You will be able to work in poorly illuminated rooms with ease with this light in your possession. It’s powered by the same 20V MAX battery as other Black and Decker tools. If you already own any of the cordless tools from the black and decker tool set, this light could be a great addition to your collection. Let’s see why this model is so popular on the market.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 4.8 ounces
  • Power: Battery powered 20V Max
  • Lumens: 70
  • Bulb type: LED

BDCF20 LED Work Light – The Basics

There are a couple of reasons why the BDCF20 LED Work Light found its way to thousands of homes around the US. The first is the practical use. The model uses the same 20V MAX battery as other black and Decker tools, which is a plus if you already own one. The LED light can produce up to 70 lumens of light, which is enough to illuminate any work area. The bulb can rotate for more than 200 degrees, so you can set it to any angle you need. It can point downward straight, or upward if the job requires it.

Design

There are a couple of reasons why the BDCF20 LED Work Light found its way to thousands of homes around the US. The first is the practical use. The model uses the same 20V MAX battery as other black and Decker tools, which is a plus if you already own one. The LED light can produce up to 70 lumens of light, which is enough to illuminate any work area. The bulb can rotate for more than 200 degrees, so you can set it to any angle you need. It can point downward straight, or upward if the job requires it.

The product is very lightweight and sits perfectly in hand. The handle is rubberized, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping from your grip. You can hold it in one hand while using a drill, or a sander in another. The light can also stand alone using the battery as an anchor. The power of the bulb is good enough to illuminate the work area, but it won’t blind you in the process. You can also use it when you go camping as a tent lamp.

Battery

The standard 20V MAX battery is what powers the BDCF20 work light. LED bulbs use little power, so you’ll be able to use for months without having to recharge the battery. If you don’t like to keep track of your batteries, this light will be your best friend.

Things we liked about it

The BDCF20 LED Work Light is very well-balanced and easy to use. It’s a light that’s a part of the Black and Decker Tool Set, and we can’t imagine working in dark areas without it ever again. It’s handy and should be a part of your work kit because you never know when you’ll need it.

The 70 lumens LED bulb has a broad focus that provides illumination of the work area but doesn’t get in your eyes. Some other models we tried were too bright, so they ended up causing more problems than they fix. This device is safe to work around, and it uses the same 20V MAX batteries as other B&D cordless tools.

The Bulb can rotate to face upwards or downwards, so you can use it in many different ways for many different jobs. It’s also very dependable and long-lasting with over 11 hours of work time on the highest settings. If you don’t use that often, you’ll forget about recharging the batteries for months on end.

Q

Things we didn’t like

You can use this work light in two different ways: you can set it on the ground or a table while you work, or you can hold it in your free hand. We think that it’s missing a hanging hook so you can keep it overhead when working on a wall for example.

Another thing that could use some improvement is the focus. It needs a focus adjustment setting that allows you to increase or decrease focus depending on the task at hand. The light won’t make a difference when you’re working in a room where there’s a light on already. It provides the best results in complete darkness. Oh, yes, it doesn’t come with the batteries included, so that might be a dealbreaker.

General User Impressions

Generally speaking, most users are happy with the BDCF20. Like us, they liked how it looks and feels in hand, but they also like the low focus. Users that already own a black and decker tool set were more than happy to add this to their collection because it looks like a part of the set, and it works with the same 20V MAX Lithium-Ion battery. The extended battery life is also praised by many.

Conclusion

The BDCF20 LED Work Light is a handy little tool for every handyman and artisans. It’s portable, well-balanced, the bulb can rotate if needed, it works for over ten hours on a single charge, and it doesn’t get in your eyes while you work. It will make working in darkness much safer and more comfortable, and for such a low price, you should consider getting one for yourself.
