Bosch GXL12V-31B22 Review Summary:
Buying a combo kit is always smarter than getting tools separately. With that said, finding the one that fits your needs best could feel like an overwhelming task with so many options of the market. So, if you’re not looking for a large 6 or 10-piece set, and if you only need a couple of standard tools in a compact package, the GXL12V-310B22 3-tool Bosch tool kit could be your ideal choice.
It’s one of the most compact kits you’ll ever find, but it’s got everything you need to get most DIY home projects done. It comes in a handy case for convenient storage and carry, but that’s not even the tip of the iceberg. This particular kit has only three tools: the 3/8-inch drill/driver, the amazing super-small PS60 Pocket Reciprocating Saw, and the GLI12V-300 LED worklight.
Even though all of the tools have only 12 volts, they are more than powerful for most drilling and sawing jobs around the house. The 300-lumen work light is there to make sure you get things done right when working in dark areas like basements and attics. So, if this sounds like something you could use, keep reading and find out all the details of this fantastic 3-piece combo kit.

Bosch GXL12V-310B22 3-tool Combo Kit – The Basics
If you’re looking for some useful lightweight tools, you came to the right place. The weight of the entire set is only 2.14 lbs, which is one of the lightest combo kits on the market. The reason for that is in the tools. All three of them are very lightweight and compact, designed to fit in areas where other devices can’t.
The PS31 3/8 in. drill/driver is just what you need to get those tricky drilling jobs done. It’s got a short head for more control, and it weighs only 2 pounds. Don’t let its small size fool you because it can put out up to 265 in.-lbs. of torque and produce up to 1,300 RPM. You won’t be able to get some tougher jobs done, but drilling holes in plaster, wood, and metal sheets won’t be a problem.
If you’re into small tools that can get the job done, you will love the PS60 pocket saw. It’s very compact, balanced, and easy to control. It’s perhaps the most user-friendly cordless power tools ever. It’s easy to think that it can’t do anything right, but with over 3,000 strokes per minute, you can use it to cut even metal and thicker pieces of wood. The 300-lumen work light will provide a safe work environment in low-light areas. So, let’s take a look at each tool individually.
PS31 3/8 in. Drill/Driver
As we said, the PS31 drill/driver is designed to be versatile and compact so it can get into tighter areas. It’s got a 7-inch long head that allows you to use it in tight spaces but also increases control. It only weighs 2 pounds, so you can use it overhead for a more extended period without feeling any fatigue.
The driver provides up to 265 in.lbs. of torque. It’s got two speeds (0-350 rpm and 0-1,300 rpm) designed for specific tasks. The 21 clutch settings allow you to customize the device for every particular application further, and it also prevents stripping of screws. The variable speed trigger provides the ultimate control and great results.
PS60 Pocket Reciprocating Saw
It’s called the pocket saw because it’s so small, you can fit it in a pocket. We were surprised by the size of this device, but we were utterly blown away when testing it. Even though it is tiny, this saw can produce up to 3,000 strokes per minute, which is quite impressive. We were able to cut through 2x4s and some metal sheets without any issues.
This pocket saw will be your best friend if you’ve got a lot of overhead work to complete. It’s very lightweight and only 11 inches long, so you won’t have problems with control. Not only that, you can fit this little device almost anywhere, so it’s going to be a useful addition to your collection, even if you already own a larger reciprocating saw.
Like all other tools in this set, the GLI12V-300N worklight is also very compact and powerful. The 300-lumen LED bulb can illuminate a dark room or an attic almost entirely, increasing visibility and safety on the job. The 2.0Ah battery provides up to 6 hours of work time.
It’s clear that this light is designed to be used as a flashlight, but you can also use it as a work light. It’s got a built-in hook so that you can hang it overhead. It’s also six-sided so you can position it exactly where you need it easier.
Accessories and warranty
You obviously get the three tools, but you also get some accessories with this 3-piece bosch tool set. The two 12V 2.0Ah batteries and a charger are also included, and so is the carrying bag. The set also includes two insert bits and reciprocating saw blades.
All of the components in the set come with a limited 1-year warranty.

Can’t cope with heavier applications
Things we liked about it
We like it when we come across some concept tools with a specific application. We loved that all the devices were both compact and powerful enough for most DIY jobs around the house. The PS60 reciprocating saw is much stronger than it looks and we were able to use to complete most projects we wanted. The handy work light is also useful and has plenty of illuminating power for you to see what you’re doing in otherwise dark areas.
Things we didn’t like
It’s a little obvious, but these tools can’t cope with tougher tasks. Of course, we didn’t expect them to at all, but, if we had something to point out as a negative, it’s this.
Based on the ratings from three of the most popular sites, over 90% of the users are happy with their purchase. Most of them agreed that both devices are way more potent than what they expected.
So, what you have here is a 3-piece bosch tool set designed for specific tasks. If you have a lot of drilling or sawing to do in an area where other tools can’t fit, this is the set you need. However, don’t expect these tiny tools to perform as full-sized power tools, but they will still get most small to medium-sized jobs done quickly and easily.
So, the set could be handy even if you already own full-size tools, and if not, these small tools could help you a lot around the house. We think that they are worth every single penny!
