Makita XT269R – The Basics
The set contains two tools: the XPH12Z brushless hammer drill, and the XDT13Z brushless impact driver. Upon purchase, you also get a hard case, two Li-ion batteries, and a charger. The combo kit is small, but it sure does pack plenty of power as both tools are among the most popular products made by this company. They are ideal for all DIY home projects, but they can also cope with some heavier applications.
The XPH12Z hammer drill has everything you can expect from a drill and more. It has two speeds variating between 500 and 2000 RPM. The brushless motor has more power than many other similar tools on the market with 530 in.lbs of torque. It also has a built-in LED lamp that illuminates your work areamaking sure you get the best possible results every time.
The second tool in this set is the XDT13Z impact driver. It’s one of the most compact tools in the cordless tool offer by Makita. It weighs only 2.6 pounds, but it sure packs a punch for such a small device. The motor delivers an impressive 1,500 in.lbs of max torque. You can set the speeds anywhere between 0-3,400 RPM and 0-3,600 IPM. The brushless motor is also upgraded, so it uses only 50% of the battery, giving it double the runtime. That’s not all! You also get some accessories and tips you need for these tools to work, but we’ll get to that in a second when we take a closer look at what this combo kit has to offer.
Makita XPH12Z 18V LXT 1/2′′ Hammer Driver-Drill
The XPH12Z hammer drill/driver is a tool that provides accuracy and precision every time you use it. You won’t have to worry about fatigue at all because the tool is very compact and lightweight. The chuck size is 1/2-inches, and it can fit most drills and bits you can find. The powerful motor produces up to 530 inch/pounds, making it easy to drill holes to any type of material including wood, metal, stone, and concrete.
The brushless engine has two variable speed settings. On the lowest settings it reaches 500 RPM, and 7500 BPM when used as a hammer drill. The fastest rates reach 2000 RPM and an incredible 30,000 BPM. These numbers are impressive, and they allow you to work on any material. The ergonomic design with a rubberized grip improves comfort and control, but they also prevent slipping and increase safety.
The LED work lights are a handy bonus feature you’ll get used to in no time. Once you start using the lights when you work, you won’t be able to go back to a standard drill that doesn’t have this feature. The lights drain the battery at a prolonged rate so that it won’t affect the runtime. The brushless motor uses much less power than a 4-pole motor, so the runtime is doubled. Put in short terms -this is a tool that has the necessary power and runtime to help you finish many different DIY or even professional jobs in no time at all.
XDT13Z Impact Driver
The Makita cordless tool collection has plenty of different tools to offer, but the XDT13Z impact driver is one of the most compact tools in the set. The dimensions of the impact driver are only 3.5 x 8.3 x 6.5 inches, and it weighs 2.6 pounds. In short, that means that you will be able to control it quickly and you won’t get any fatigue even when using the tool for hours at a time.
The compact size is one thing, but this little power tool has so much more to offer! It has a brushless motor that delivers up to 1,500 in.lbs. of torque, which is quite impressive for such a small tool. The sheer power makes it easy to finish up all projects on all material types. The motor works on two different modes with variable speed settings.
The first mode delivers 0-3,400 RPM when drilling holes and the second mode provides 0-3,600 IPM when used as an impact driver. You will be able to keep your eye on the work area due to the built-in dual LED lights. It’s a bonus feature that makes your life easier in dark areas. Furthermore, the grip is rubberized and has an anti-slip coating for increased control and safety. The hex chuck is 1/4″ in size, and it allows quick bit changes without the use of any extra tools. The XDT13Z is a serious tool that works well for amateurs and professionals alike.
Accessories and Warranty
Apart from the two tools, you also get a convenient hard case for easy carry, two 18V lithium-ion batteries, and a quick charger that can recharge the batteries in 2 hours. Upon purchase, you will get a 3-year limited warranty and that only speaks about the quality of this toolset.
Very powerful tools
Built-in LED work lights
Compact and lightweight
The chuck can be wobbly at times
Things we liked about it
First of all, we liked the power of both tools in this combo toolkit. They provide more power than similar devices on the market, but that’s not all. These tools also have built-in LED lights, an ergonomic design, and they are lightweight too, so you won’t get tired when using them. The brushless motors deplete batteries 2x slower than 4-pole motors, which is also great, especially when you’re working in a remote area. We also loved the hard case that makes it easy to transport the tools and protects them from damage as well.
Things we didn’t like
The only thing we didn’t like is that the chuck is made out of plastic. A metal chuck would be a better solution.
People who have bought the XT269R are more than happy with its performance. They are impressed with the power and wide area of application you can use the tools on. Some users complained about the chuck getting wobbly after prolonged use.
There is almost nothing these tools can’t get done. They have the necessary power to drill holes through the hardest of materials with ease. They also have extra features like the LED light, the anti-slip rubberized grip, and the hard case. These are the tools you’ll buy once and use for the rest of your life.
