When it comes to buying the right tool for the correct application, one must first check out the specifications and features of a particular model. This rule of thumb is being ignored by a vast majority of consumers. Consequently, many people end up purchasing an overpriced or subpar machine. Needless to say, both of these scenarios are pretty bad and should be avoided at all costs.
In order to ease the research for you, we have covered a couple of top-rated models on the market. This way, all you have to do is read our reviews and figure out whether a particular model fulfills your requirements. Therefore, instead of looking all over the Internet for relevant info, take a moment and check our articles out. You’ll find more than enough insights into the capabilities and performance details. In other words, you can find any piece of information in one place – here.

GreenWorks 20222 – The Basics
This particular chainsaw is designed for light work. Due to its lack of amperage in comparison to some other models, it can’t be used for anything more serious than a cleanup after a storm, pruning, and trimming. However, it performs exceptionally well when light applications are in question. It’s also significantly less noisy than any traditional gas-powered chainsaw and quite a few corded ones as well.
The tool-less chain tensioning system is a great addition to this somewhat versatile machine. One can tell that most included features and mechanisms are user-friendly meaning this is one of the easiest models to use as far as our list goes. It’s also quite affordable meaning it suits most budgets.
When it comes to the design of this unit, it’s quite good and well thought out. In other words, everything you need is within reach and easily accessible. That’s a great thing both for beginners and intermediate users. The tool-less chain tensioning will help you to adjust the machine within a minute or two, without using any additional tools.
The hand grips are okay, but they could have been designed better. There is nothing wrong with them by any means, but there is definitely room for improvement in the next few generations. The grips are rubberized meaning the vibrations are significantly decreased. Moreover, if you wear protective gloves, the vibrations are almost non-existent. On the other hand, it does come with a price of reduced performance and lack of power.
The safety features are on point, except for the lack of the chain brake. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced user, a chain brake is always a valuable addition. Therefore, even though one can consider this unit relatively safe, the absence of the chain brake is something we don’t like.
One thing we would like to point out is the convenience. In other words, it’s quite easy to both use and maintain this machine in good condition. When it comes to maintenance, all you have to do is take care of the oil levels. Other than that, in order to turn the machine on, all you have to do is plug it in and push the start button.
Easy to use
Can’t cope with demanding tasks
Lacks some crucial features, one being the chain brake
What we liked about it
The biggest element we liked about this model is its simplicity. Instead of being a complex machine full of redundant electronics, it’s as simple as it can be. As we said, all you have to do in order to use it is plug it in and hit “start.” On the other hand, the price is also a thing we liked. It’s quite an affordable unit considering its capabilities. Now, you cannot expect it to cut through everything like a hot knife through butter, but as far as its suitable applications go, it will definitely perform as advertised.
The auto-oiler system is a neat addition to an already versatile unit. It provides adequate lubrication and ensures consistency in performance. It also comes in handy for people who aren’t used to using machines that require constant lubrication.
What we didn’t like
The biggest drawback of this model is its lack of power. The 9amp motor is okay, but it’s far from a mighty one. It will do its job well, but if you ever stumble upon a bigger project, don’t expect it to do well because it won’t. The handles are okay but aren’t nearly as soft as one would expect. It may not be a disadvantage per se, but many people complain about the sturdiness of the hand grip. However, it’s easily solvable with a pair of heavy-duty gloves.
Even though you can put a longer bar on this model, it’s not recommended as it could have a detrimental effect on the unit itself. This may be one of the biggest disadvantages because people simply don’t like factory limitations.
General user impressions
The opinions on this model are mixed. While some people praise its ease of use and compactness, others complain about the lack of power. In the end, it all comes down to your personal requirements and needs. Therefore, if you’re looking to tackle a massive piece of wood with a 9amp chainsaw, don’t expect too much of it. However, applications such as pruning, trimming, and cleanups are a piece of cake for the GreenWorks 20222.
This is a great corded-electric chainsaw for homeowners. However, don’t expect it to perform well with some more demanding tasks. On the other hand, if you’re an occasional user, don’t hesitate to take a better look, especially if you’re a beginner. The strongest points of this model are the ease of use and compact design. On top of that, it doesn’t produce nearly as much noise as its gas-powered equivalents, although it is an expected outcome. While it is an affordable model, it’s simply not an all-around one, and it has a couple of important limitations.
