DeWalt DCD777C2 Review Summary:

When it comes to American manufacturers of power tools, DeWalt is undoubtedly one of the best-known names. Founded almost a century ago, this company is famous for their quality circular saws, impact drivers, and, of course, cordless drills.

This time, we’ve decided to take a closer look at their DCD777C2 model, which is a cordless brushless drill that has become hugely popular since its release date (Fall 2016). There are a few reasons behind this, some of which are the excellent torque (made possible by the powerful brushless motor) and the compact size that makes the device very portable and easy to use.

We’ll be taking an in-depth look at all features of this drill, analyzing its advantages and flaws while trying to find out if it’s actually worth the money. Join us and let’s check out why is this device so popular together!

Dewalt DCD777C2 – The Basics

Decades ago, the DIY enthusiasts had to deal with the weighty, corded drills if they wanted to complete their projects – they simply had no other choice. Nowadays, however, things are a little bit different. Today’s drills are cordless, extra-powerful, and lugging them around is a breeze. The DeWalt DCD777C2 is a great example – it comes with all these features and more.

It’s a well-designed, user-friendly model manufactured by a renowned company, coming with a powerful brushless motor and a high-speed transmission that delivers two speeds – 0-500 RPM and 1,750 RPM. It boasts 500 in-lb of torque power, a built-in LED light, a lightweight design, as well as two 20V Lithium-Ion batteries. Another selling point is the affordable price, which proves that one doesn’t have to spend too much money to acquire a reliable power tool. Let’s check it out!

The DeWalt DCD777C2 Features

Cooling Brushless Motor

The thing that makes this model an interesting choice is the fact that it caters to all skill levels of the DIY enthusiasts – and that includes complete beginners. But one shouldn’t let the user-friendly look of this cordless drill fool him, as it actually comes with excellent specifications. It features a brushless motor, which makes the tool advanced enough for the DIY professionals, too.

These kinds of motors are highly appreciated by the majority of tool buffs for a reason – they’re efficient and operate a lot cooler when compared to different motor types. The brushless motor inside the DeWalt DCD777C2 runs cooler and gives the device a longer lifespan – overheating simply isn’t an issue here.

The unit comes with two gears – 500 and 1,750 RPM, as well as with a variable trigger that allows greater control of the device.

Ergonomic and Lightweight

The DCD777C2 weighs mere 2.5 pounds and features an ergonomic handle which removes the risk of fatigue after prolonged drilling sessions. The experienced DIY enthusiasts might find this unit to be too lightweight – it takes some time to get used to it. Repeated use is guaranteed to make the device feel steady and secure while in hands.

Even though the drill is ergonomic and quite robust, it still doesn’t sport the best build quality out there. Its chuck is made of plastic and feels a bit out of place on this powerful unit.

The Batteries

As we already said, the kit comes with two 20V Lithium-Ion batteries. The powerful motor consumes battery juice fairly quickly, so we advise to always have the other battery fully charged before you begin working on your project.

Things we liked about it

There’s a lot to like about this cordless drill. First of all, its brushless motor packs a serious punch, as it features 500 in-lb of torque power and makes the unit suitable for both beginners and professionals. Another great feature is the dual stage trigger that changes gears in the transmission (0-500 RPM and 0-1750 RPM).

The handle of this drill is exceptionally well designed as well, and it easily outperforms most of the competition by providing the user with the right amount of hand comfort. The device is also very compact and lightweight, which makes working in tightly enclosed spaces a breeze. Those looking for an affordable model will find the unit’s reasonable price as yet another advantageit suits anyone’s budget.

Q

Things we didn’t like

Unfortunately, the low price of the DeWalt DCD777C2 has had an adverse effect on its construction quality. Even though the device is sturdy enough for all sorts of DIY projects, it still features a plastic-made chuck that can get loose at times. This can lead to all kinds of issues, like wobbling and stopping to properly lock the drill bit. It’s a serious problem and something we hope to see removed in DeWalt’s future cordless drills.

Our only other complaint is the fact that the batteries die fairly quickly here, which is why it’s of paramount importance to always have both batteries fully charged before starting to work with the drill. Fortunately, fast charger eases the rapid battery power consumption.

What Users Say About The DeWalt DCD777C2

As you’ve probably already concluded yourself, the thing that separates this model from the competition is its reasonable price. And that’s precisely what the users seem to like the most about it – they’re giving particular praise to the low cost of DCD777C2.

They’re also praising the unit’s amazing amount of power, especially when its price point is considered. It boasts plenty of power and torque, which, when combined with its user-friendly operation, makes it suitable for all skill levels – including the ones of a complete DIY beginner.

Conclusion

In case you’re searching for a cordless drill that’s powerful enough for a professional user but still easy-to-use for a beginner, the DeWalt DCD777C2 is an excellent choice. Even though it doesn’t have all those fancy features of the high-end models, it still boasts great specifications and is certain to do the trick.

We particularly recommend this model to those on a tight budget. For a low price, you’ll be getting a powerful, lightweight, and portable device that will assist you in completing all of your DIY projects.
