Dewalt DWS780 – The Basics

When it comes to this particular model, it has most of the things you’ll need for a smooth, precise, and professional angle cuts. Its 15-amp motor is able to deliver up to 3800 RPM which is more than enough for a vast array of applications. For example, crown molding is a piece of cake for this machine because it tilts from 0 to 45 degrees in both directions.

The measuring elements of this machine are also quite good. The miter base is well-designed, precise, and properly calibrated. On the other hand, the safety features could have been designed better, but they perform well regardless. The dual bevel system allows you to adjust and fine-tune the unit without any hassle whatsoever.

The Features

The design

The design is a fairly conventional one; there aren’t any impressive parts of it. One thing that makes this unit desirable is its compatibility. In simpler words, it weights only around 56 pounds meaning it’s not a burden to carry around or move from one place to another. Therefore, if you’re working in a dynamic environment, the DWS780 is a good solution.

As we already said, measuring components of this sliding miter saw are excellent. The miter scale is well-crafted, and you can see that the engineers paid a lot of attention to details. After all, supreme build quality is one of the Dewalt’s strongest points; they are a well-respected brand for a good reason. The pre-made positive stops alleviate the hassle of finding the right angles. Instead, all you have to do is move the base to a proper position.

Dust collecting

The manufacturer guarantees up to 75% of dust extraction. While many other models tend to struggle with collecting dust, this one doesn’t. Also, it’s quite easy to set up the system because it consists of one bag, and that’s it. All you have to do is mount it properly. However, make sure to read the user manual before you mess with the parts in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Safety

The safety is at a satisfactory level. It’s certainly not the unit with best safety features on the market, but it’s still absolutely safe to use as long as you follow some of the basic rules when it comes to handling power tools.

Its overall versatility is what made us think it’s a worthy investment. It’s suitable both for professionals and DIY enthusiasts. The pros appreciate its precision and smooth operation, while the hobbyists love the affordable price and ease of use.

This model is a great all-around alternative for some much more expensive models. It may not have all of the premium features, but it offers more than enough power and versatility for a massive array of applications and projects. If you’re looking to upgrade your old miter saw, this one might be a pretty good choice, to say the least.

Compactness is also one of the things that caught our eye. It’s surprisingly light and easy to carry around. In other words, if you’re searching for portability, take a moment and check this product out.

Q

Things we didn’t like

The machine requires assembly. While it’s not a big deal for some people, other’s hate the fact that they have to mess around with something they don’t know much about. Even though a manual is included, some people found it quite difficult to put together. It might not be a significant downside, but you should know about it so that you know what to expect.

Misaligned units are a pretty common occurrence as well. It’s not hard to align the blade, but it can be a nuisance for some people, especially the ones that aren’t as experienced.

What Users Say About The DEWALT DWS780

People who bought this unit seem pretty satisfied with its performance. As we already said, there are some minor downsides, but it’s nothing you can’t overcome or adjust. The thing most people like about this machine is its price. While it seems like a hefty one, the price is definitely one of the more affordable considering the overall usefulness and amount of auxiliary features. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a professional or a DIY-er, this unit certainly has a lot to offer.

DEWALT DWS780

Conclusion

As you can tell, it’s a good unit with a ton of neat features. It’s easy to use, precise, affordable, and well-designed. If you take a moment and think about it, there is probably more than enough power within this unit to fulfill most of your requirements. However, if you’re a really demanding buyer, you might want to check some other ones that are from a different class. As far as the usefulness of this particular model goes, it’s one of the best out there. On top of that, the price-to-quality ratio is excellent and expected of Dewalt in the first place.
