Delta 36-L552 – The Basics

This model is one of the most popular ones within its own category. It has a ton of helpful features, plenty of power, and it’s quite easy to use. Professionals appreciate these three elements and a vast majority of people that bought this unit praised its performance, efficiency, and precision.

The first thing people notice is the 5HP motor. In comparison to its competitors, the Delta 36-L552 can deliver quite a lot of power. In fact, lack of power will never be an issue when it comes to this unit. Adjusting components on this machine is a piece of cake. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the easiest to adjust and fine-tune. Therefore, even absolute beginners can play with the settings without having to think about safety and other important factors. Stability is great due to the heavy iron-cast base.

The Features

The design

Every single element incorporated into the design is great. The whole machine is well-engineered and more or less flawless. The table top area is large meaning you won’t have issues with space whatsoever. The measuring instruments are crafted with precision and quality. In other words, the sliding fence and miter gauge are of premium quality and are as reliable as possible. It’s great news because many other models struggle with the measuring components of their models.

The base is made of cast iron. As you can assume, it’s an extremely durable material meaning there is very little chance of damage. Even if you manage to damage the machine somehow, it probably won’t affect its overall performance at all. Needless to say, durability is not an issue; these machines are designed to last for decades.

Maintenance isn’t as complex as one might think. All you have to do is maintain it in good condition and check the inner parts occasionally. Don’t forget to read the user manual for further instructions.

Safety

As far as the safety goes, it’s okay. There are no impressive safety mechanisms, but that doesn’t mean the unit isn’t safe to use. In fact, it’s quite secure and easy to use as long as you do it in a proper manner. The blade guard is transparent; therefore, you can watch the blade as it cuts through the wood. The anti-kickback system is a standard but effective one.

One of the most notable things about this unit is the lack of vibration. Thanks to the extremely low levels of vibrations this model can be considered absolutely safe. However, the On/Off switch could have been bigger.

Dust collecting

As usual, the model features a 4-inch dust-collecting port. Connecting a hose is a piece of cake, and you won’t have any issues with sawdust or debris whatsoever. However, before turning the machine on, make sure that you’ve tuned the hose correctly. It’s a very important step, don’t skip it!

Things we liked about it

The whole machine screams – quality. As soon as you see it, you’ll realize how sturdy, stable, and reliable it is. Needless to say, these three elements are very important for every devoted professional.

One of the main advantages is the size of the table top. While other models do have spacious table tops, this one is an evident winner. In other words, you will never have to think about whether you’ll have enough space for a particular operation. Also, the amount of power is overwhelming. The 5HP motor is able to cut through any wood without breaking a sweat.

Q

Things we didn’t like

It requires assembly. If you’re an inexperienced individual, you’ll most likely have an issue with putting the whole thing together and making it work. In case you don’t know how to solve the problem, our advice is to hire someone who does. It may cost a bit of money, but it’s well-worth it. If you don’t know what you are doing while assembling this model, you’ll do more harm than good.

Some people complained about missing parts, but a vast majority of those cases were shipping company’s fault. If you ever experience this problem, don’t hesitate to call their customer support department, they will be more than happy to help you.

What Users Say About The Delta 36-L552

Conclusion

High-quality cabinet table saws are quite rare nowadays, especially if you’re looking for an affordable model. Needless to say, this is probably one of the better opportunities you’ll get when it comes to good price-to-quality ratio. Speaking of price, it’s an acceptable one. It isn’t a cheap model per se, but it’s definitely a worthy investment if you’re a busy professional with a lot of projects planned. Take a moment and check it out, it may be the thing you’re looking for.
