Dewalt DW364K – The Basics
This particular model is one of Dewalt’s entry level machines with a ton of useful features. It features a 15-amp motor which is able to deliver up to 5800 RPM thanks to the great 2kW of output power. In other words, you don’t have to worry about cutting dense and hard wood because this unit will do it without any major issues.
The accuracy is okay, and the unit is quite stable. When it comes to safety, the most notable feature is the electric brake which is responsible for putting the blade to a stop as soon as you turn the machine off. The rear pivoting point is a great innovation because it lets you set up the cut depth while keeping your hands away from the blade. The bevel capacity of 50 degrees can be regarded as versatile and useful.
The design is pretty neat, to say the least. While most of these units usually have some kind of a design flaw, this one seems quite well-rounded. The blade is in the right spot, the weight of the unit isn’t a burden to deal with, and most importantly – it’s an easy tool to use thanks to the comprehensive manual and simplistic work principles.
If you’re an absolute beginner, we strongly recommend that you refer to the user manual before turning the machine on for the first time. You’ll find a lot of useful info in the manual as well as some tips on how to properly fine-tune and adjust the saw to your personal preferences. As we said, the 15-amp motor is powerful enough for a vast array of applications meaning one can freely say it’s a versatile machine.
The cutting capacity is okay, but it could have been better nonetheless. Even though it is able to cut large pieces of wood, a bigger cutting capacity wouldn’t be such a bad idea. On the other hand, there is little to no reason to worry about the smoothness of performance; it’s at a satisfactory level.
As far as the safety features go, they are great. Apart from the standard set of precautionary measures, the unit also features an electric brake which immediately stops the blade after the machine has been powered off. The weight dissipation is pretty good meaning you won’t have an unpleasant experience with fatigue. Therefore, the downtimes are minimal with this unit.
Dust-extracting capabilities of this unit are minimal. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect any impressive achievements in the dust-collecting department whatsoever. Furthermore, the hand grip isn’t cushioned nor rubberized which greatly increases the amount of vibrations and pressure on your hands.
Easy to set up
Things we liked about it
There are plenty of things to like when it comes to Dewalt. First of all, the build quality is great. The aluminum components are lightweight and yet reliable and sturdy enough. Furthermore, the price-to-quality ratio is quite good, as with all other Dewalt products. If you’re looking for a high-quality machine for an affordable price, this company is the right place to begin your search.
The accuracy is neat, and the vibrations are more or less minimal.
Things we didn’t like
The first thing we didn’t like is the absence of any buffers or softeners on the unit. In other words, the hand grip is not coated; therefore, quite prone to vibrations. Apart from that, some people didn’t like the fact that it’s made in China. Contrary to popular belief, products that are assembled on the Asian market also go through extensive quality control checks. In other words, there is no need to worry about the country of origin. In fact, it’s an advantage because most products that get imported from the Asian market are significantly cheaper than domestic ones.
General user impressions
Both enthusiasts and professionals love the way this model performs. It may not be the best one on the market, but it’s probably the best deal in this particular price range. The most important thing about it is the fact that it won’t let you down in the middle of the project. Reliability and trustworthiness of this model are undeniable. As we already said, some people had a problem with the country of origin, but it’s a completely irrelevant element in the whole equation.
As you can see, this model is versatile enough for a vast array of different applications. Therefore, whether you’re planning on cutting laminate or dense beams, the DW364K will do the job right. Furthermore, you don’t have to be an experienced expert in order to operate this power tool. Instead, all you have to do is take a moment and read the user manual. It’s quite comprehensive, and you won’t have any problems with adjusting to your new piece of equipment.
The thing that makes this saw a worthy investment is its price. Due to its affordability, even people who are on a tight budget may consider purchasing the DW364K. If it’s not your cup of tea, be sure to check our other reviews out.
