Milwaukee 3107-6 Review Summary:

Founded all the way back in 1924, the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation has successfully created and marketed a vast range of grinders, sanders, drills, and many other kinds of tools throughout the years. Their products are held in high regard by handymen, due to their well-known quality and reliability.

Can that be said for their newest right angle drill, the Milwaukee 3107-6? Intended for joist and stud drilling, this unit can also be used for a number of other applications thanks to its powerful motor and a heavy-duty 1/2″ chuck. Due to its versatility and popularity, we’ve decided to put it to test.

In this review, you’ll be able to find all about the features, advantages, and disadvantages of the Milwaukee 3107-6. Our job is to help you find out if this machine is suitable for your needs and the budget – read on!

Milwaukee 3107-6 – The Basics

Like we said, this right angle drill is an ideal choice when it comes to joist and stud drilling, but it’s flexible and versatile enough to be used for many other drilling operations. At its heart is the 7 AMP motor that’s capable of delivering 0-500 RPM. When we combine it with the two-speed head, the RPM value goes higher – all the way to 750 RPM on the high setting. Knowing that the users will utilize this tool on metal, plastics, wood, and composites, the Milwaukee decided to equip it with heat-treated gears (helical-cut). Not only do these give the tool an extended lifespan, but also provide a much quieter performance. There’s also a handle for a comfortable fit, as well as the convenient impact-resistant carrying case.

The Features

The Design

Milwaukee decided to equip this right angle drill with a red and black color combination – it’s something they’re well-known for and it’s immediately recognizable. Just like we expected, the 3107-6 comes with an ergonomic design, as its weight of over 10 pounds can cause fatigue and cramps during prolonged use. Because of that, the tool has a durable, glass-reinforced nylon handle that swivels 360° – it is fully adjustable, which is something we always like to see on these types of drills. For a more secure and comfortable grip, the manufacturer also included a side handle.

As you can see, this is a corded drill – your movement will be limited by the length of the cord. Fortunately, the included cable is 8 feet long and can be detached for easy service replacement or storage. Together with the tool, the user is also getting a very convenient impact-resistant carrying case.

Power

The 3107-6 comes with a pretty robust 7 AMP motor, providing the user with a reverse operation (for extra functionality) and 500 RPM. One can increase the RPM value by adding the 90° adapter – with it, the no-load speed of this unit rises to 750 RPM. It is one of the quietest right angle drills on today’s market, due to its heat-treated gears that also make the tool more durable and reliable.

The unit features a heavy-duty 1/2″ keyed chuck, providing the user with industrial-grade efficiency no matter the toughness of the workpiece. The machine handles bits up to 4-5/8″, which makes it even more versatile and flexible.

Things we liked about it

As far as we’re concerned, this is a fantastic choice for all those who have to do stud and joist drilling on a daily basis, but also for the DIY hobbyists. The Milwaukee 3107-6 sports enough power and versatility to be used for a number of different applications – and that’s always a big plus in our book.

Its 7 AMP motor will allow you to drill through any kind of surface, providing you with enough torque and RPM for the quick completion of any job. The reverse operation, on the other hand, increases the tool’s versatility even further. We were pleased to see the inclusion of two convenient handles, with one of them being wholly adjustable and therefore allowing longer drilling sessions without cramps.

The package also includes a 5-year limited warranty, 30-day no-risk trial, and a sturdy carrying case for easy storage and transportation. Pretty impressive, wouldn’t you say?

Q

Things we didn’t like

Our main complaint about this right angle drill is its price – it is quite expensive. Even though it sports a pretty good amount of useful features and has a durable construction, we still think that it should have been a bit cheaper. In this way, it will be out of reach to many handymen, which is a shame as it is a very flexible and versatile device.

The fact that this is a corded drill limits one’s movement and makes the unit unsuitable to those that need a model that’s really portable (and lightweight). Fortunately, the included cable is 8 feet long.

What Users Say About The Milwaukee 3107-6

Just like we expected, the consumers are praising Milwaukee 3107-6 for its power and versatility. Users who have to drill studs for plumbing and deal with angled holes are saying that these are not troublesome anymore with 3107-6 – the unit is of great help in such situations.

Besides the power and speed, they’re also pleased with the included carrying case and an extended warranty, saying that the addition of these makes the whole deal genuinely outstanding.

Conclusion

The Milwaukee 3107-6 is, in our opinion, yet another great product from this famous manufacturer of power tools. The unit sports reliability and versatility that put it among the best devices of this type on the market, especially when we consider that you’re getting it together with a convenient carrying case and a generous 5-year warranty.

With its 360°-revolving handle, speedy motor, high torque and RPM values, reverse operation, and the ability to accommodate a broad spectrum of drill bits, the 3107-6 is a solid investment, especially if you have a significant remodel coming up.
