Review Summary:

Kobalt decided to abandon all of their previous lineups and to launch a new one. Their 24V Max brushless powertool sets are giving their competitors a run for their money.

Their new combo kit comes with reasonable specs, somewhat different from the competition, and indeed in a good way. Kobalt launched a new cordless power tool lineup with the most contemporary technical benefits.

Their cordless power tools are best used by DIYers and homeowners. Each tool is power by a brushless motor. The brushless technology makes sure the units will stay in your service for a long time, and it also maximizes performance.

That’s not the only thing that stands out when it comes to this tool kit. It comes with a new and improved battery that has 50% more power than its predecessor. The fact that everything promised on paper is delivered in reality is truly commendable, and the 5-year guarantee is just one way Kobalt has proven their reliability.

Kobalt 24V MAX Brushless 2 Tool Combo Kit – The Basics


There are two cordless, brushless power tools in the set, one battery and a tool bag. One of the tools being the Kobalt 1/4-inch impact driver that is 1/5 more compact than its predecessor. It also has almost double the torque.

The unit comes with a variable speed trigger and a three-speed gearbox. The lower gear goes from 0 to 850 RPM. The medium one can reach 2,000 RPMs, while the highest hear goes up to 2,700 RPM. This compact impact driver can deliver 1800 inch/pounds of torque and 3500 IMP.

Things we liked about it

The brushless technology really stands out, especially as it comes at such a low price with this tool kit. Each unit has a brushless motor -which means longer work life and better performance for both of them. Both tools are quite powerful for their size.

DIYers and professionals ought to benefit greatly from them as they are suitable for a wide variety of tasks. With the multiple features, you can fine-tune the units to your liking.

Things we didn’t like

The LED light is neat and comes in handy, but it’s trigger activated -doesn’t work otherwise. It’s still useful, but not as useful as it could be as it makes starting out a bit more difficult when the light is low.

There is no charger in the package. You get a battery, a contractor’s bag, but no charger. Really puzzling -anyone would trade off the bag for the charger.

General User Impressions


This is a small tool kit that is packing a lot of power. It’s excellent for both pros and hobbyists. It is especially great for those who treasure great performance, durability, and accuracy.
